Picture
All over the world schools are now using remote learning opportunities. This shift in due to COVID-19 has increased students use of social media platforms. As a result, students have been spending more of their time online communication with other students and using resources for academic purposes. Though these are alternative means of learning during the pandemic, the children are in more danger than ever. Since the being of COVID-19, there is evidence that there has been an increase in the amount of cyberbullying. Countries and international Organisation have started taking action, however, if this is not continued then students will continue to suffer and may harm themselves causing the mortality rate of students to increase.

The government must strongly enforce the already existing cyberbullying regulations. Government and other organisation (like the United Nations) battling cyberbullying should online session for students, school faculty and parents to educate them about threats of cyberbullying through different media channels and child protection. They should highly advertise their child protection services and should strength the local cyberbullying reporting to take immediate measures to help a child in danger the COVID-19 pandemic. They should promote national hotlines, like Child Helpline International, local hotline and different support groups to avail support to children. The government should make people aware of the document created by UNICEF, during the pandemic, on how to keep children safe online. This document educated different parties on how to take care of children in different situations and how to support them. The document also provides policies, tools and resources that are made available for the victims of cyberbullying.

Governments must use these resources and effectively provide them to cyberbully victims. In the future, as schools decide to reopen, they may see that online learning is a more feasible option. The risk to cyberbullying will persist more than ever if these techniques and resources are not implemented.
